Tuesday August 18, 09 : Assam Governor Syed Sibte Razi is under pressure to quit after facing corruption charges.

Sources say Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has asked the Assam Governor to quit and save the UPA government from embarrassment.

CBI raids are said to have affirmed reports of alleged corruption in the Jharkhand Raj Bhawan, when Razi was the state governor.

Razi has apparently told the Prime Minister that he needed some time to explain his side of the story to Sonia Gandhi.
